Radiant Acrylic!

Just recently a friend of ours introduced us to Erin Hanson‘s work. No words discribe how much I love her style! She is amazing.

Artist: Erin Hanson (copyright work).
Painting by Erin Hanson

When I saw her brilliant “open impressionistic” style – a style she created and a name she coined – I was awe-struck. I knew I had to learn to paint with more color. Her work feels alive and joyous. I started searching on the internet for anything I could find to help me loosing up and open up.

Watching a few of Ian Robert‘s videos I decided to download one of his images and give it a try. This is a painting I did following his instruction using the image of his wife in their garden. I like this but I would like to be looser!

A practice painting by me, Nancy, following Ian Robert’s video.

I will post again and show you my progress as I practice following the guidance offered by the above artists (mainly Ian Roberts, Malcolm Dewey, and Jed Dorsey… more to come!

Enjoy your own personal journey! ~ Nancy

How to Make Time-Lapse Video

I have become a fan of Laura Horn. She is a wonderful artist.  I was viewing her podcasts (which I highly recommend) and saw this video. I have always had an interest in the creation of video and this was very interesting. Laura’s husband Richie provides a quick step-by-step video on making a time-lapse video. Those of you that want to add a time-lapse video to your Instagram page take a look!

Another Mixed Media Piece for my Napping Kitty Series

I’m afraid I haven’t been creating a lot of art this last year, but on the positive side I have been creating web sites. A few months ago the Yachats Arts Guild (which I am a member) asked about having an online art show. With all the restrictions (a good thing) during this pandemic there we haven’t had the opportunity to have a physical art show in 2020. I got busy and create an online shop for the group and right away we decidec to create an online show for the holidays:  Small Treasures Holiday Art Show.  One member, Sherry was in charge of marketing (take a look at her wonderful jewelry) and I was in charge of the website. Sherry did a fantastic job and we had some great articles written here on the Oregon Coast. We have also had some good responses!

I sold two of my Napping Kitty’s which got me motivated to create another in the series. I purused the internet and saw a darling photo of a kitten asleep in a boot, like a soft leather Ugg boot.  I set to work to see IF I could pull this off and I did. I think it turned out really cute and now it is posted in the Arts Guild Shop for sale. Check it out.

It’s Yachats Banner Time!

Each year (for the past 4 years) local artists volunteer to design and paint banners to be hung in downtown Yachats, Oregon, along Hwy 101. We are a small coastal town and downtown consists of only a few blocks.  The banners hang all summer and are auctioned off in the fall to raise money for the community.

Each year the artists are given a “theme” to help with inspiration. 2020 theme is “Yachats Patterns.” To see last year’s banners and read more about them go to the Polly Plumb Productions website.

My 2020 banner: Trilliums, acrylic paint on canvas. 23″ x 42″.  SOLD
